How to PoP, Explore the AR Map, and Troubleshoot Permissions

1. How to Claim a PoP (Proof of Presence)

For those of you just learning about Illustrative Space, welcome! For those returning, we really appreciate your time in our application. PoP or Proof of Presence is a way to check-in at any given art piece in augmented reality. There are many perks and rewards for activity so please read here if you want to learn more. Please note the PoP system will be launched on March 11th 2022 at 12PM CST.

How to Find a PoP in Your Neighborhood via Discovery

Step 1: Tap the Discovery button on the homepage of https://the.illust.space
Step 2: Click on an experience on the map. You can search for experiences by address as well.
Step 3: Click or tap “more info”
Step 4: In order to PoP please create an account and start this process over again. If you would like to view the AR experiences without claiming PoPs, please tap the discover in AR button.

How to Claim a PoP in the Mobile AR App

Step 1:  Welcome to the Illustrative Space discovery application. Please click the continue button if you agree to the terms of using the browser-based application.
Step 2: Now you’re on the permissions section. If for any reason your permissions are red please visit the permissions section below. Please be sure to allow access to Camera, Location, and Motion in order for the application to run. IOS users may have more issues, for more visit here.
Step 3: You will see a compass directing you to the piece you initially saw on the discover page. If you would like to change the piece, tap on the map at the top right part of your screen, tap on a pin, and select “navigate here”. 
Step 4: Once you arrive at the object, the compass navigation will turn off and you will be greeted with a lowercase “i” for information icon, a button to snap a photo, and an icon that says “PoP” or “Claim PoP. Please tap the claim PoP button which will verify your location. Feel free to read the information about PoPs in the modal. 
Step 5: Tap the claim PoP button to enter the PoP claim page. If you haven’t logged in you will see a button that says “log-in to claim PoP”. Tap the login button. If you’ve already logged in, you will see a button that says, “claim PoP” and you can skip these steps.
Step 6: Tap the Claim PoP button and you’ve now created a NFT Proof of your Presence at the experience. 
Step 7: The buttons at the bottom will navigate you either back to the AR discovery application or back to a library of your past PoPs

How to Log In

Step 1: By signing in as a visitor to the site, our system creates you a profile. Those who sign in through email or Twitter will receive a “Magic Link” which will create a special wallet to hold NFT’s with our system. Metamask is supported for those who are crypto natives. Select your preferred method to log in. 
Step 2: For those attempting to log in by email, add your email address and check your email with the address “Log in to Illustrative Space”. If you do not see the email please check your promotions or spam folder of your email.
Step 3: Please tap the login to Illustrative Space link which will redirect you to the page you were originally at before you decided to log in. If you were brought to a separate page, please open your browser window to see other open tabs as shown in the video.

How to Access Your Claimed PoPs and Special Tickets

Step 1: Go to https://the.illust.space
Step 2: Click the login button on desktop or mobile browser
Step 3: Click the tab my PoPs at the top
Step 4: You are now on the PoPs page which will display a list of your experience proofs
Step 5: If you see a golden PoP, this your admission ticket into the secret event

3. Troubleshooting Discovery App Permissions

If you’re accessing the mobile discovery application and have any of your permissions turn “red” upon entering the application, you may have to change your permissions in settings. This is often the case with iOS users and so the videos represent this process. For Android users, simply close out of the application fully and then restart in order to gain access to the AR experience.

All 3 Permissions Must Be Accepted to Enter AR

  1. Camera Permissions: Settings>Safari>Camera>Allow
  2. Location Permissions: Settings>Privacy>Location>Location Services>Safari>Select While Using App or Ask Next Time Or When I Share (which will prompt you to confirm next time you’re in the app)
  3. Motion Permissions: Settings>Accessibility>Per App Settings>Safari>tap to add
